Speaking of leftover ideas from a former topic, here's this!
Edit: The previous strip was also posted today, so in case you were unaware, you shouldn't be now.
Took you long enough.
....I don't get it
o_o maybe i'm just stupid
@Tijopi11: MissingNo multiples the first item in the inventory by 108.
@Rochwell: I'd say I was right on time.
@Tijopi11: What dragonriderjh said. Although its more common location is surfing outside of Cinnabar, but I figured one could fish it up as well.
You noobs, it's the 6th item in the bag.
@anon: Does it really matter? :/ Missing No. multiplies an item by a lot.
Strictly speaking, Missingno. can't be caught by fishing... but who cares! Missingno.!! AWWWWWW YEEEEEAAAAAAH!!!
@dragonriderjh: Actually, it's the sixth item, and it gets multiplied by 128.
@sonicstar4453: for anyone who wasn't aware of this glitch and wanted to recreate it, yeah it matters.
There needs to be a squeal to this where Red does this glitch right to get 108 Nuggets but then reality breaks.
godamnit silph scope go away!
I think that he could donate them to a charity for homele- oh wait, they don't exist in pokemon because their entire world is perfect without problems or trouble other then stupid teams who pin everything on battles (Lavender town not included)! Economy! Nope! Politics! Nope! That mysterious blue flying pokemon! Hold the presses stop everything now we have something worth caring over!
God I just sounded like a troll
@IG_42: I hear that. For me, it was the Poké Flute, I believe. On the other hand, if you cloned the Helix/Dome Fossil or Old Amber, multiple Omanyte/Kabuto and Aerodactyl!
Wow, everybody is wrong on MissingNO.. MissingNO. makes the 6th item increased by 128 due to a fucked up data buffer. However, it fails if the number is 128 or above. Also, fun fact, there's 39 different types of MissingNO., all of which work the same, but they may look different. Instead of MissingNO., they were supposed to be other Pokemon that were scrapped for <insert reason here>.
I didnt know that misingno had that effect. I need to read up on it...
It makes sense that I didn't get this one; I played first gen but I was always too scared to catch MissingNo. I didn't want to risk glitching my game. :P
Wait, I didn't leave that comment! ö
@Mundius: how interesting.
@Dragoniteguy: I used to really love MissingNO. as a kid. For some reason, major flaws like these made me happy and interested in them. They still do, because it's a game of its own.
I remember duplicating items all the time when I played Red and Blue, to the point where I think I once had 100+ of everything in my bag and used the glitch to get enough master balls to complete my pokedex. Then I tried catching 'M on my Blue version...Never again.
@Mundius: I knew that... just phrased it wrong.
last time he got a bike with the Nuggets
@Snailcall!: It was killing him that caused the item multiplication. I'm not sure if catching him did it either. Fighting and killing had no lasting harmful effect on your game, but catching was known to sometimes screw it all up.
Should have been Master Balls.
ehehe that's a good one. People who don't get it is clearly to young or new to Pokémon. Having been spending a lot of time with Pokémon Red myself, I find this simple but hilarious. Right in the childhood ;)
@dragonriderjh: 128*, not 108.
It doesn't really matter that much how much missingno multiplies with the 6th item, since you get 99 of it in inventory as maximum anyway, or did they change that in Heartgold Soulsilver? o-o...
Very funny strip, keep up the good work.
On the plus side, he'll be more than ready next time he runs into a Rhydon.
@Rochwell: The thing in the third panel is Missigno who when encountered increases the number of items in the 6th Bag slot by 128, the joke is he had a Pokemon doll in that slot.
Love this, been waiting for this comic to appear for a long time now.
@dragonriderjh: Actually, it multiplies item #6 :P
hey, what if shelder bit slowpoke on somewhere else it's body. like, if it bit slowpoke's arm, would it evolve into slowdrill? comedic potential is... evident, but in low quantities
Actually you can run from Missingno. and still get the item increase. Also, your entire Hall of fame record shows teams of only Missingno.
Super Rod: Check!
Pokemon with Surf: Check!
Master Mall in 6th slot:...I knew I forgot something
@Missingno. Master: 128 because of the subliminal nintendo 64 messages
@Random4infinite: Strictly speaking, the Hall of Fame can be changed to display more or less anything. Missingno. is a distinct possibility, yes, but so is pretty much anything in the Pokédex from Bulbasaur to Mew. And even other Glitch Pokémon, like .4, A, LM4, and h POKé.
@dragonriderjh: it multiplies the item in your 6th slot, not first.
haha as someone who made a profit from MissingNO by raising pokemon to lv 100 with duplicated rare candies while at school makes me love this strip all the more
I noted the lack of the exclamation point that appears over your head when you hook something on the fishing rod... maybe it would have looked silly here, but I at least would have appreciated it.
@Missingno. Master: It gave me all Missingno. every single time I tried it as a kid. I wonder if that was just my bizarre luck at work again. I remember one time, when I forgot to switch the Rare Candies and ended up with 128 Old Rods.
@dragonriderjh: Thanks a lot Greg!
oh i thought he bought those to get away from any more missingo...
@Bumbazzle: Seriously? All I could find was a level 128 Nidorino that I couldn't escape from, and would knock my pokemon out every goddamn time.
@org: The number of times that a MissingNo. duplicates an item is not a reference to anything at all. MissingNo. is an error handler and a glitch, so it's not going to be making any shout-outs because it isn't supposed to exist. Rather, it produces 128 copies because data is stored in powers of two. Most variables in the first two generations of Pokemon were stored using eight bits. Each bit represents multiplication by two, with the eight typically meaning positive or negative. Two to the seventh power is 128.
Missingno.'s exact effect is to increase the quantity of the 6th item in your bag by 128, unless it is already 128 or higher. Therefore, 1 becomes 129, 2 becomes 130, etc.
This is so funny, I've read all the other comics on here and love Pokemon! Keep on writing, you're amazing! :3
this took me back and made me laugh. great artwork.
Why you no post new comic strip!
@Alg: I see what you did there...
The guy is Red from FireRed, where the MissingNo. glitch doesn't exist. He's also fishing, whereas when executing the MissingNo. glitch, you had to Surf. (LOL Just being a douche, but the strip actually made me laugh.)
First seeing this, I thought he was pulling out pokedolls to make missingno. go away. still funny, but not as good as the actual joke. I never used missingno. myself, so i didn't remember it's multiplication effect until i read the comments.
If it had been a different item it would have been clearer for me. potions perhaps? maybe nuggets?
It can corrupt.
It can enrich.
THE DEITY THAT BRINGS FORTH THE GLITCH!!!
The comic wasn't showing up, I had to refresh several times...
Darn you Missingno.!!!!
