Even worse if it's used on Charmander, considering it dies if it's tail fire goes out.

Would you not also run the risk of physically washing some pokemon away, like Muk and Grimer?

No
@.:AuraX:.: Actually, it's the EXACT opposite! When a charmander dies, it's flame goes off. Seems like dead things can't produce combustibles to use, huh?

@Rampardos18:
"From the time it is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out."
~Charmander Pokédex entry, Pokémon Firered

There is a disconnect between what the pokedex says and what actually happens. Soaking a Charmander won't kill it.
Remember who is responsible for the Pokedex entries.

in competitive battling, soak can be used against steel types so you could toxic them...a pokemon that could use these 2 moves effectively is alomomola

@MetaFawful: That thing has cleavage for feet.
...
So, would getting a footjob from one of those things be considered a footjob or a boobjob?

@Muddykip64: Look back to the original show too though, when the pokedex told Ash things rather than him writing the entries. In that, Ash is told that if charmander's tail goes out that it will die. And he overhears during a storm the owner of the charmander he found outside laughing about it and he goes to save said charmander from death. It's kind of a big deal (that never comes up again because fuck character development). (Wait no I think it comes up once in that episode where Ash almost dies of hypothermia because he sends Charmander back to his pokeball rather than let it risk its life to save his.)
#Hasn't seen any of these episodes since their original airing on Cartoon Network #Remembers perfectly #This is why I can't get a job

@Herpaderpderp: There was also the time when Charizard was frozen in a battle because it wouldn't do as Ash said, and ended up very nearly dieing. It wasn't really specifically mentioned about the tail fire, but the tail fire was the only thing not frozen and the camera focused on it slowly dwindling / getting stronger from time to time.

Yeah, soak is an interesting move. The ability mummy is similar to it in the regards of change, but mummy is an odd ability. It's more like one pokemon is a zombie, inffecting other pokemon.

Poor Kadabra
Did you know that you can prevent Pokemon that evolve through trading from doing so by making them hold an Everstone... and that this method works on every single Pokemon that fits that discription... Except Kadabra.
(I would love it if you made a strip about that and give me a shout out, keep on making this awesome strip.)

New Forms
What if the fire types hit by soak, have the firey aspects changed to aquatic? Like if Charizard's tail tip turned into a water fountain, and they got a color change too. So a light blue Charizard with a water fountain for a tail tip. That way it avoids the issue of Pokemon who require flames to live.

Well, not only would it be more logical as a Ghost type move that makes the enemy a Ghost type, but it would also be more useful, being that Ghost types are weak to themselves. A similar amount of usefulness could be achieved by making it Dragon type, but that's an impressive amount less logical than Soak is already.

FYI anime doesn't follow game logic, and Pokedex are known for making stuff up. The only time the Pokedex entry became "real" was when a kid was shown to be weakening after defeating her Litwick - and even then she didn't "die" as per Dex entries.

Oh lord...
Those B2W2 strips might be mistimed due to the most recent announcement - Pokémon X & Y are coming in October.
So...yeah. Not saying you should rush them...and from past experience, it doesn't seem like you'll move on to X & Y so quickly after its release.

@AlchemistWarrior30: Electabuzz, of course.
That face in the last panel. Oh god my sides.

@Alg: I could picture Electabuzz donning on a shirt just to pull it over their head just for the sake of saying "corholio".

@Rampardos18: Actually, according to both the shows and the games, it dies if the fire goes out.

Soak makes reasonable sense. If you're covered in water you'll be vulnerable to electricity and plants will have an easier time growing on you.

@PaDiYaFLAME: no worries by pokemon's child like standards you can just fix it by light them on fire

I like Soak as a move. It's an interesting effect which can serve you well if played correctly. It's just that when you imagine it in practise things get weird. Maybe it would have worked better as a Ghost move? I don't know. This is what keeps me up at nights.
Pokemon Black/White 2 strips comes next update. See y'all then.
