Oh hey! Stereotypes! How dandy!

Not really much to say about this one, besides that I could probably fuel several other updates with this theme, but I believe the point I've covered here will have to do nicely. My apologies in advance if the text is hard to read, or if it's blatantly offensive to one/several of your lifestyle choices.

And for the record, the speech bubble in the first panel belongs to the guy, not the beer can. Unless you've had 5 drinks and counting.

29 Apr 2012 08:44 pm

Nice!

I love the Hipster one.

But I love milk, crazy person!

29 Apr 2012 08:45 pm

hey

As a hipster in a fraternity who lost his frat house and now roams the campus randomly orientation leaders to (hand-crafted) spoon fights...deeply offended.

29 Apr 2012 08:52 pm

Listen to the Hobos

The Psyducks are going to take over. And when they do, y'all are going to be sorry for not listening to the Hobo.

29 Apr 2012 08:59 pm

Pokemaniacs are actually pretty hipster-ish.

29 Apr 2012 09:12 pm

How easy it should be...

...to replace the hipster with the Troll Eridan Ampora.

29 Apr 2012 09:38 pm

Why aren't they trainers real?! They're freaking awesome!

29 Apr 2012 10:44 pm

I would like to see
1. Bronies
2. Crazy kat lady
3. Adult film stars
4. Valley girl
Done like this

29 Apr 2012 11:34 pm

the hipster one... SO PERFECT XD

29 Apr 2012 11:59 pm

O.O oh god... college pokemon!!! people have different pokemon according to personality!!!! ingeinous!!!!

30 Apr 2012 02:37 am

Genius!

Awesome! Especially the hipster one; uses Apricorns instead of Pokeballs. LOL.

30 Apr 2012 05:54 am

@anon:teams:
bronies:ponytas and rapidash (usually painted a girly color)
Crazy cat lady:we have a cat Pokemon in pretty much every Gen, do the math man.
Adult film star:smoochum, jynx, mr. Mime, that's about it.
Valley girl:alright you win I can't think of anything

30 Apr 2012 06:11 am

VGCats

Is it me... or is that hobo from VGCats? I thought he died... spoon in his ear and all.

30 Apr 2012 11:42 am

Asides from using apricorns, the hipster probably could pass as an actual pokemon trainer.

30 Apr 2012 01:10 pm

I figured you would have a farmer as one of them.

30 Apr 2012 04:37 pm

@shadow7127
@anon
Bronies: No clue, going with shadow7127 on this one.
Crazy Cat Lady: Skitty, meowth, glameow, and their evolved forms.
Film Star: Same thing as shadow7127, but also cute little pokemon like snubbul and pichu.
Valley Girl: probably miltank and maybe sunflora.

30 Apr 2012 05:44 pm

Make A Shirt Of That

I Need That Alpha Mankeys Shirt In Real Life

30 Apr 2012 05:52 pm

@anon: Bronies would be pretty hilarious. They would only use Rapidash of course XDDD

Great comic!

30 Apr 2012 05:56 pm

@shadow7127: ....Ewwww, you'll use Jynx for adult film star but it didn't even occur to you to use Gardevoir and Kirlia? Or Froslass or however you spell it. Or the new goth-loli one, I think it's called Gothica? Fifth gen didn't impress me so I didn't pay much attention to the names. But there's a humanoid plant one that's very cute in 5th gen too. Mr Mime, Jynx, and Smoochum are waaaay too ugly for adult film star <<; But hell, you could throw in Lucario, he gets written in enough porn because of that movie...poor Lucario. Kind of got the short end of the stick there.

01 May 2012 12:34 am

@kitsunewarlock: If your a hobo, then how were you able to type this on computer let alone in a coherent sentence?

01 May 2012 02:23 am

@RedRob: Ever been to a public library?

01 May 2012 12:36 pm

great work... i love how the hipster refuses to use normal types! keep it up!

01 May 2012 03:46 pm

Genius!

Seriously, those are hilariously awesome and still in-theme with the PokéMon games, (with the exception of mentioning beer). Seriously dude, AWESOME work. Really laughed at this one.

01 May 2012 04:01 pm

Uhm, there is already a valley girl type trainer. I think it was in gen 4, and she fought alongside with her father. Also, yes, she used ponyta

01 May 2012 05:07 pm

@Novanto: Is it the scarf or what? I'm not seeing it.

01 May 2012 05:17 pm

@Shoop-da-Whoop: Eridan is known as "the hipster" of the Homestuck trolls. But the scarf helps.

01 May 2012 11:31 pm

02 May 2012 03:27 pm

@shadow7127: I know about the team builds but I was thinking for the film star it would be jinx lickingtung and swalot. For the cat lady I was thinking more about the art style more than anything

02 May 2012 07:16 pm

As I recall, there was an NPC in one of the games that used the Hipster's line before the fight...

02 May 2012 11:41 pm

I can see the hipster now.....

"I use use Dugtrio. He's probably too underground for you."

04 May 2012 05:00 am

@Marisa Mockery: bring on the clop fiction

04 May 2012 05:16 am

@Linkofone: I don't see what the big deal is; all we need is Secretpotion.

Also, if hobos challenge others to spoon fights wouldn't it make sense for them to have Kadabra on their team?

04 May 2012 10:46 pm

STAY AWAY FROM MILK!

Ah, hilarious. Great comic, 'cept I have one question (sometimes it is REALLY hard for me to get jokes). Why would the hipster not use normal types? And the hobo in his underwear is so funny. Really.
@Missingno. Master: You are either really dedicated or have waaaaaaay too much time on your hands. I'll be optimistic and say dedicated.
Plus, I gots some of me own!
Gamer: Electric types
Ordinary boy/girl: Normal types
Environmentalist: Grass types
Country Man: Miltank, Tauros, Ground types, Ponyta, Rapidash
Robot: Electric types (Would only be found in Villainous team's headquarters.)
Popular Girl: Normal types
Depressed Man: Dark types and Ghost types
Surgeon: Psychic and Electric types (high levels and good movesets.)

04 May 2012 11:47 pm

Hipster uses Galvantula, Bellossom and Claydol.

05 May 2012 09:20 pm

There should be Hobo trainers in the pokemon games :D

06 May 2012 02:24 am

I am a pokemon hipster ;-; I learnt how to read playing yellow version...

06 May 2012 02:26 am

@Gamining King:

hipsters would not use normal pokemon because "normal" is mainstream.

07 May 2012 03:32 pm

P. sure Hobo would also use Trubbish and Garbodor. Or employ them in some other capacity.

Incidentally I am one of the few that loves Garbodor.

Loving the Hipster, also.

08 May 2012 09:23 pm

@Gamining King: why would a surgeon be battling pokemon, and why wouldn't gamers and robots use steel types? Also, I would call country man hill billy. Otherwise, pretty funny :)

08 May 2012 10:29 pm

I always thought Hippies would be a good Trainer class. Naturally, they'd use Grass types.

09 May 2012 09:23 pm

@Guest: Just shut up, you. Don't critique my logic (that I shall now explain. Surgeons would be doing the pokemon battling because they have free-time and Nintendo has weird logic. Gamers wouldn't use steel types because they don't use steel. Video game consoles don't have metal on them. Robots wouldn't use steel types because I forgot, but the reason I just came up with is that team rocket and the other teams don't really use steel types (Rocket: Poison; Magma/Aqua: Dark & Dark/Water; Galactic: Poison; Plasma: I forget, but it isn't steel.)).

13 May 2012 08:16 pm

@Gamining King: Don't take that tone when people question your choices. Especially when you didn't explain them in the first place.

13 May 2012 10:23 pm

If there were adult film star types, they would use Pokemon with suggestive move names (String Shot, Lick, Bite, Bind, Submission, etc.)

18 May 2012 09:53 pm

@Novanto: His team would be all Magikarps. }:D

18 May 2012 09:54 pm

@Nox Crow: Yep! ... {one battle with Eridan later}

Magikarp Sushi, anyone?

21 May 2012 03:06 am

you bastard! going to second hand stores and using apricorn balls doesnt make you a hipster!!!

...oh god no...

02 Jun 2012 12:11 am

I was looking back at some of the more recent (but not most recent) strips, and I found this.

I almost choked on my drink when I read your description - "blatantly offensive to one/several of your lifestyle choices." - because I instantly thought of the "several" part. As in, a Frat Boy Hipster Hobo.

06 Jun 2012 10:22 am

I expected the frat boy to have slowbro's to but hobo milk psyduck man makes sense

10 Jun 2012 02:35 am

@Gamining King: A little of both, actually, I think.

11 Jun 2012 07:08 pm

@Marisa Mockery: the list I composed was about as serious as the comic itself, just some random things I thought were funny and I came up with on the spot

12 Jun 2012 04:03 pm

@Bumbazzle: I sorry. I really sorry. It was supposed to be funny. If was wrong, I sorry. I really really apologize. So sorry. My buttocks is ready for a spanking.

02 Aug 2012 06:36 pm

You forgot Slowbros for the frat boy.

03 Dec 2012 04:29 am

That's not necessarily true...

I could see the Hipster pulling out a Dunsparce in battle.

21 Dec 2012 08:32 pm

@Shank: Dunsparse is pretty popular in places. Oddly enough.

09 Mar 2013 07:12 pm

Major language problem

I've got one for you! WHY DOES EVERYONE IN THE POKEMON WORLD SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE!

09 Mar 2013 07:15 pm

@Linkofone: very true. Wait, before any adventure Mom always yells: DON'T TRUST PEOPLE WITHOUT TROUSERS!

19 Mar 2013 06:47 am

I, uh, avoid Normal-types. I've never liked that they have not type advantage when attacking. It hardly occurs to me they have a resistance against Ghost, because that goes both ways (and Ghosts were rare for the longest time).

Just like with fighting games, I don't catch onto how these things are supposed to be used (TANK), but instead just like the flashy attacks. Thus, my team is mostly dual-types and damage-dealing moves with occasional side-effects. Hit 'em hard!
