That's so horrible, but that's so funny. XD

I always figured there was something on the dex or pokegear. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Slaking has the 2nd highest attack in the game for a non-legendary...

but its ability is its downfall -_-

Plus Rampardos has the highest for a non-legendary, but all of its other stats suck >_>

Oh no. O.O
Well, Slaking's aren't SO bad...

Actually I read on a sign (on SoulSilver) that you stop the evolution by startling the pokémon. Always find that amusing.

Reply

12 Aug 2011 10:48 am

Yeah, everything in game, on all of the games, be it an NPC or a sign, says you can push the b button to startle them and stop evolution.

LOL

Sucks for him! XD

Reply

12 Aug 2011 11:50 am

Maybe you just shout "B! B! B!"

And then the Pokemon is startled because it thinks bees are attacking it.

Reply

12 Aug 2011 11:55 am

aw.. reminds me of playing sapphire with an emulator.. THE B WASN"T A B

Reply

12 Aug 2011 02:03 pm

There is a B

The manga lists the b button as a feature on a pokedex, only the trainers who have these can stop evolution.

Reply

12 Aug 2011 03:08 pm

Slaking is pretty good, though. Sure, the ability is annoying but the attack makes up for it.

And considering B distracts the pokemon and they stop, I gues you like... shake it or something.

Reply

12 Aug 2011 04:27 pm

Oh wow

Why wouldn't you want a Slaking? The ability sucks but give it a choice band and a very strong physical normal type move and he'll be beast

Reply

12 Aug 2011 04:54 pm

slakings are champions when you can knock out just about anything in one hit only going every other turn doesnt matter so much

Reply

12 Aug 2011 10:23 pm

The Ironic Thing

The ironic thing is that the only move he was using to win battles was Giga Impact

Reply

13 Aug 2011 04:31 am

My Slaking

My Slaking knows Hyper Beam and Gyro Ball. Both of which negates its own ability, because it needs to rest anyways. His other 2 moves are Yawn and Covet lol

13 Aug 2011 06:13 am

That poor trainer...and poor Vigoroth

Reply

13 Aug 2011 10:56 am

Actually teach slaking skill swap is the BEST way to negate truant and you sometimes get something awesome like intimidate in return. Skill Swap, Focus Punch, Substitute, and slack off, great move set, works for me.

An according to the pokemon adventures comic, the B button is on the pokedex. So unless you're one of "Oak's holy chosen" you don't get to stop them :P

In the real life...

If Pokémon were real, WHERE F*CK IS THE B BUTTOM?!

Reply

13 Aug 2011 01:54 pm

Without its ability

Y'know, Slaking pretty much is broken without its ability. He has higher stats than most legendaries.

For fun, try Slaking without its ability in a simulator (or give it Pure Power, which doubles its Attack, instead). In fact, its ability is the only thing keeping him from going Uber.

About the B button...

How about making a comic about THE RUNNING FREAKING SHOES? Hold the B button to run. Otherwise, you can only walk. Perfect material for a "If Pokemon were real" comic.

Reply

14 Aug 2011 12:32 pm

Well, Slaking has high Attack AND high Speed... and considering its huge HP, Truant is just stalling the battle.

In the Anime, a Pokemon can cancel the evolution on its own - it was the Piplup who didn't want to grow up who did this. Instead of taking this moral (Which ALWAYS grants a show perfect rating by the critics), they did the opposite with an Everstone because Dawn is too much of a wuss to let her Pokemon do what's good for them and not what they want.

@lightninglord2

That was first shown in the season 1 episode with the garden full of bulbasaur. The venusaur who conducted the ceremony released some kind of spores that made all the bulbasaur there evolve- except for Ash's who refused. (The episode where pikachu lost to Lt. Surge's raichu and they considered evolving him so they could win doesn't cout, becuase stone evolution can't be canceled in the games anyway.)

I have a friend who chooses not to evolve his Vigoroth, yet because it has lackluster stats and movepool, I think it's worth evolving. Sure Slaking has a gimmicky, predictable 'guerilla' switch-out strategy, but that's what makes him so fun to battle with. :)

This comic never meant to say that Slaking is a bad pokémon, the trainer simply had his reasons for not wanting him to evolve. Although Slaking is a prime example of how different a pokémon can be compared to its former stage.

I have a Vigoroth I use for battling, though. Survive any hit with Focus Sash, destroy the opponent afterwards with Counter, and then cause as much damage as possible with Flail and Reversal. He's a fun little critter!

Protect

I pwned Norman's Slaking in Emerald because I used Protect when it attacked, then I attacked when it couldn't.

Maybe to startle them you can shoot them in the face with a bb gun. Hmmm.... two B's maybe that's devolution spray

@Big Josh

Actually Slaking can't learn Skill Swap.

Reply

27 Aug 2011 06:31 pm

Subliminal meaning much?

Now that I think about it, I actually understand WHY he didn't want Vigroth to evolve (out of it's evo family, only Vigroth has Vital Spirit, instead of that ability where you could only move every other turn), though it was probably a bit obvious already.

@Blah: slaking sucks. Its stats are basically half because it attacks every other turn. Any pokemon pwns it with protect. It is a common move btw....

In the Pokemon Adventures comic, evolution is canceled by pressing a button on the Pokedex.

Yellow (a character made up to lead the Yellow arc of the comic), who often cancels her Pokemon evolutions, wasn't able to cancel her Pokemon's evolutions without Red's Pokedex that she lost, she was quite upset haha

in the pokémon adventures manga when blue(green) tells yellow that using the pokedex's cancel button will send a sonic wave that startles it to stop evolution.

Actually, if youwatch the Anime/read the manga(any of them) The Pokedex (Originial one anyway) has an "A" and "B" button.

I know it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to late to comment, but Slaking has higher base stats then psuedo-legendaries i.e. statwise Slaking is stronger then salamence. If it weren't for Truant the guy would be beast! It has the same base stat total as regigigas! How is that weak! HOW! HOW! EXPLAIN IT TO ME!
