Defensive Measures

I think it's where you aim the poke ball to make it easier to catch.
Of course that would only work if the Pokemon world was real life.

its like...
its like changing one word when quoting someone and saying its your own. i know a lot of pokemon are "somethings, with a cool something" but ursaring is literally its name: bear + ring. lol.

I've wondered a good while about the 'ring' part of its name as well, but now it feels awkwardly obvious.

Erm, Asian bear species have contrasting marks in their chests. Guess what Ursaring is based on?
The joke still works well, anyway.

You go ahead and aim right between his muscular, razor-bladed-tipped arms that can probably rip a man in half without any effort.

:D
The first thing that comes to mind upon seeing the last panel is an old Far Side cartoon, where one stag is looking at a target-shaped series of rings on his chest, and the other remarks, "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal." :)

It's like they say. The best offense is a good defense, but a bad defense is just offensive.

@PokemonBrown: alot of the first gen pokemon are just plays off of the real animal they are based on: Ekans = snake backwards. Arbok = cobra backwards (with a K). Haunter is a ghost (haunts). Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam (magic phrase). etc etc.

@Guest: Yah, jolteon in Japanese is Thunders, Vaporion is Showers, and Flareon is Booster. Those made me laugh so hard when I found out...

This is what happens when you add pointless details to pokemon designs!
